 Customized Safety Culture
Ecker Enterprises has four locations - all bilingual, some trilingual - in different regions of the United States, each with a full-time Safety Professional. We have taken a unique, forward-thinking approach by deciding that our Safety Professionals are NOT simply ‘responsible for safety’ as they are in many other organizations. At Ecker, our Safety Professionals are instead responsible for the effectiveness of the overall Safety Culture at their respective location. By adopting this unique approach, creativity has flourished; resulting in the development and implementation of numerous innovative programs, while never losing sight that Safety remains a Line Management responsibility.
Since construction methods and techniques at each location are not always the same, the Safety Culture must adapt to local needs. Although the structure and measurement metrics of the Corporate Safety Program is the same for all locations under the direction of Charles E. Vasconez, CSP, Ecker’s Corporate Safety Director, the details of specific activities and training classes that are conducted, depend upon the region. In fact, individual locations are allowed the flexibility of deciding for themselves which activities and training classes they wish to focus upon.
